Central Scotland Restaurants

Scotland is renowned for, amongst other things, its long & dramatic coastline but right in the heart of the country lies some of the most beautiful scenic locations and rich historical treasures. From Stirlingshire in the north, with its famous castle and heritage, down to South Lanarkshire and the stunning Clyde Valley, Central Scotland draws many visitors away from the big cities of the central belt for the scenery, the history, the activities, and some terrific Central Scotland restaurants.

The urban areas of the Central Region are certainly diverse. There are places of great historic importance, such as Stirling and Lanark and both have some good restaurants which make the most of the aged ambience and character of the surrounds. Then there are the new towns such as Cumbernauld and East Kilbride, the latter of which in particular is renowned most for its incredible shopping centres. There are plenty of dining options for the shoppers and as with most places in the region, plenty of choice.

Indian restaurants are as popular in the central area as anywhere else in Scotland with alternatives such as Chinese, Thai, American, and European style restaurants freely available. Whatever your preference, from fast food to fine dining, from business lunch to romantic dinner, from pub food to party food, there is the ideal Central Scotland restaurant to suit.

Within easy reach of the larger towns such as Hamilton, Motherwell and Coatbridge, the Central region is characterised by huge swathes of beautiful countryside. This provides for some superb dining in stunning rural surrounds, often in country house hotels and traditional inns. These are ideal for classic Sunday lunches as part of a family day out and often have children’s menus and activities and outdoor patio areas in which to enjoy a drink or some food and admire the views.
