Aberdeen and Moray Restaurants
|
The north east coast of Scotland has been defined throughout its history by the North Sea, firstly in fishing and latterly in oil. Aberdeenshire and Moray continue today to reap the rewards of the coast and, in Aberdeen, fishing remains to the extent it has one of the largest fishing ports in Europe. When it comes to restaurants in the area it will come as no surprise to find an abundance of fish and seafood on the menu but there are many other culinary delights to uncover in Aberdeenshire and Moray restaurants.

Aberdeen is far and away the largest centre of population in the region and is a city which boasts a great wealth of history, some very fine granite architecture, and no shortage of green spaces too. The oil industry has seen an incredible growth in hotels and leisure amenities in the city and in dining out Aberdeen is considered something of a gourmand’s paradise. There are many great restaurants, some within grand old hotels, others within stylish modern hotels and yet more who simply cater for the demand for culinary variety and quality.
In addition to the ready availability of fresh fish and seafood, Aberdeenshire is famous for Aberdeen Angus beef and menus in the best restaurants will almost certainly incorporate this local favourite. As a city and area which welcomes great numbers of visitors for work and pleasure there is a great selection of international restaurants in which the fresh local produce is used in Chinese, Indian, Italian , French and other world cuisines.
The countryside of Aberdeenshire and Moray is not without its great restaurants either and there are many country hotels and restaurants which offer stylish dining against the wonderful natural backdrop of the Grampian Mountains. The traditional inns, lodges and country houses of Aberdeenshire and Moray certainly know how to match great food with great surrounds.
